Reproducibility and the Concept of Mathematical Solution

In this paper, we argue that reproducibility is a severe problem that concerns simulation models. Moreover, it is a particularly interesting problem because it involves the very concept of numerical solution. A cluster of common definitions takes simulations as numerical solutions. As this paper argues, the reproducibility problem challenges the concept of numerical solution and hence the conception of what a simulation actually does.
