Extension of power and cooling infrastructure

On April 12 HLRS started the construction of new power supply facilities for its next generation supercomputing installation.

Together with representatives of the university and the building authority the minister of finance Willi Stächele, State Secretary Dr. Dietrich Birk and the director of HLRS Prof. Michael Resch performed the ground breaking ceremony to symbolically kick-off the construction work.

The facility upgrade will provide the additional power supply and cooling facilities of 4 MW enabling the provision of the next generation of supercomputing facilities in the Petaflop/s range in early 2011.
