Scientific employee/Senior HPC application specialist [HLRS_02_2012]

Specialist for engineering applications

 

The contract is according to German law (HRG) restricted to a duration of a maximum of 6 years and will be issued on a yearly basis. The salary is in accordance with the TV-L.

 

Tasks:

 

The work is part of a European project in the field of HPC infrastructures. You will work in an international team in the area of supporting industrial and academic users mainly from the engineering field in unsing European HPC resources. You will establish and cultivate contact to our customers, you will analyse their requirements and provide consultancy as well as support with the usage of European HPC resources. In addition, you are able to perform necessary modification in their applications. You will work on new and innovative solutions in the field and you will be responsible for parts of the project.  You bring in your ideas and integrate them with solutions provided by team members and other project partners.

Key Requirements:

  • University degree in computer science or a related field
  • Very good command of English
  • Ability to conduct independent work in an international team
  • Expertise in programming scientific applications with a focus on engineering applications 
  • Experience with using unix operated server systems

 

Desired Skills and Knowledge:

  • Experience with large-scale software development
  • Experience as consultant
  • Experience with the management of scientific projects
