IRMOS
IRMOS, which stands for Interactive Realtime-oriented Multimedia applications On Service-oriented Infrastructure, aims at combining the worlds of service-oriented infrastructures and realtime applications.
The goal of IRMOS is to "Design, develop and validate a Service Orientated Infrastructure which will allow the adoption of interactive real-time applications, and especially multimedia applications, enabling their rich set of attributes (from time-constrained operation to dynamic service control and adaptation) and their efficient integration into the infrastructure." *
The visualisation department of the High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart, HLRS, is working on specification of requirements and adaptation of real-time applications to such a framework, as well as evaluating the framework with regards to realtime aspects. The application applied in IRMOS is based on HLRS visualisation suite COVISE with a special focus on guaranteed Quality of Service for Remote Augmented Reality.
Further Information can be found on the project website of the consortium.
IRMOS is a research project partially funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Programme FP7/2007-2011, ICT-2007.1.2.
