Optimis
Optimis is a cloud project that aims at optimizing cloud services by producing an architectural framework and a development toolkit that takes trust, risk, eco-efficiency, cost and legal issues into account. OPTIMIS approach is to create a dependable ecosystem of providers and consumers that altogether become the foundation for an efficacious operation of services and infrastructures. This includes innovations for optimizing the whole service lifecycle, starting from service construction to deployment and execution.
Innovations
- Adaptability and eco-awareness: OPTIMIS enables a dynamic and proactive management of cloud infrastructures. This type of management makes infrastructures become adaptable, reliable and scalable according to redicted and unforeseen changes of services.
- Provisioning on Multi-Cloud Architectures and Federated Cloud Providers: this enables novel and complex composition of clouds considerably extending the limited support for utilizing resources from multiple providers in a transparent, interoperable, and architecture independent fashion.
- Trust + Risk + Eco + Cost (TREC): the TREC factors capture the essence of an optimized cloud marketplace governed by mutual trust between consumers and providers in a secure and risk-free environment that also satisfies ecological and economical goals.
- Optimized Service Construction, Deployment, and Execution for Cloud Infrastructures: OPTIMIS will offer tools that simplify the construction of services. These tools will also help make informed deployment and run time decisions based on risk assessments that evaluate the different providers.
- Cloudnomics: OPTIMIS brings along new market roles and value activities in the cloud marketplace. Besides exploring new business models, OPTIMIS is providing legal guidelines and recommendations for optimal cloud operation.
