A Collaborative and Distributed Software Environment for High-Performance Simulation and Visualization

COVISE, the COllaborative VIsualization and Simulation Environment is an extensible distributed software environment to integrate supercomputer-based simulations, postprocessing and collaborative visualization functionalities in a seamless manner.

COVISE applications are composed of several tasks which are modeled as processes spread across different machines. COVISE allows several users to work in a collaborative synchronized session.

The development of COVISE was initiated in European Community funded projects in cooperation with industry. The basic architecture and most of the application modules have been developed at the High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS) since 1993. COVISE has been developed further by several activities such as the G7 project GWAAT together with Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center and Sandia National Laboratories.

COVISE is free for academic users.
