CRAY XE6 (Hermit)

Installation step 0 has been integrated into step 1 and is not longer accessible as separate system.

Hermit will be installed in 3 steps. The major purpose of step 0 was to perform tests, migrate applications and integration of the new system into the HLRS environment.

Installation step 1 is currently installed and is available to users since December 2011.

The installation step 1 is based on CRAY XE6 technology and consists our of 3552 compute nodes.

The overall system concept will have beside the compute nodes additionally special frontend nodes for pre- and  postprocessing in different configurations and a huge and fast storage system.

ISV codes are supported to a large extent directly on top of the Cray Linux Environment (CLE) or by using the Cluster Compatibilty Mode (CCM).

A further installation step is planned for 2013 and will be fully integrated with the phase 1 system.
