21 December 2015

On the occasion of a press conference on the 8th of December 2015, the Governor Winfried Kretschmann from the State of Baden-Württemberg and the Minister of Science Theresia Bauer announced the future funding of HLRS as a center for High Performance Computing. In total, Euro 153 Mio. will be available for a replacement of supercomputers starting in 2017. Half of that money is supposed to come from the Federal Government. HLRS is very grateful about this announcement. It is the first time in the history of HLRS that funding for the next supercomputer is announced that early and that we get such strong political backing. Minister Theresia Bauer added „HLRS is the core of a unique research infrastructure network in Europe.“
