BEAM-ME Kick-Off

26 February 2016

Energy systems modeling: In January 2016, the High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS) participated in the kick-off meeting of the three-year project BEAM-ME, funded by BMWi.

BEAM-ME addresses the need for improved computing power and efficiency in the domain of energy systems modeling. Besides HLRS, DLR (Stuttgart), being the principal investigator on the modeling side, and JSC (Jülich), engaging in the task of enabling simulations to run on HPC infrastructures, contribute to this activity. Furthermore, the Zuse-Institute in Berlin (ZIB), which takes on the task of developing tailor-made parallel algorithms suited for state-of-the-art many-core systems, and the GAMS Software GmbH contribute with application level research and development.
