HLRS still #1 in Germany

17 November 2016

According to the most recent version of the TOP500 list (November 2016), HLRS is still running the fastest supercomputing system in Germany. The Cray XC40 System, code named Hazel Hen, is ranked number 14 in the 48th edition of the list enumerating the most powerful supercomputing systems world-wide, which still makes it number three in Europe.

In the more realistic HPCG (High Performance Conjugate Gradients) benchmark, Hazel Hen is registered at number 12 being the fastest European research system. Prof. Michael M. Resch, Director of HLRS: “We expected losing ground in the TOP500 list, but we are happy to see that our sustainable strategy with its focus on sustained performance for our users still pays off”.
