Hazel Hen Still Fastest German Supercomputer

20 June 2017

The new TOP500 list of the world's fastest high-performance computing systems was announced this week at the ISC High Performance convention in Frankfurt am Main. Hazel Hen, the Cray XC40 system operated at the High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS), was ranked number 17.

Although Hazel Hen is now two years old, it remains the fastest supercomputer in Germany and number three among all PRACE systems in the European Union.

“We are happy that our general purpose system still does so well in a competition that is increasingly based on special purpose processors and architectures,” said Prof. Michael Resch, director of HLRS.
