SC17 is among the most important HPC events worldwide. At this year's convention, High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS) activities will be represented at the following exhibits and panel discussion.
High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS)
Members of the HLRS Visualization Department will demonstrate how we are using augmented reality technologies and flow simulations to improve efficiency of ventilators and general sanitary conditions in surgery rooms, decreasing the risk of infection. We will also present our Vistle software environment using head-tracked immersive virtual reality equipment to exhibit an interactive remote visualization of large-scale CFD results located in Stuttgart.
How Serious Are We About the Convergence Between HPC and Big Data?
Dr. Bastian Koller
Tuesday, November 14th 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
With rapidly scaling hardware technology and the increasing volume of scientific data to process, the scientific community faces fresh opportunities. Nevertheless, building computing architectures that can efficiently manage such large data workloads presents several challenges. In this panel, Dr. Koller and other experts in high-performance computing and Big Data will discuss the convergence between these two domains and share their perspectives.

Funded Collaborative Research Projects
European Exascale Projects
The European Exascale Projects will present several exascale-related research projects funded by the European Commission as part of the Horizon 2020 program. HLRS is a project partner in several of these efforts.
