The High-Performance Computing Centre Stuttgart (HLRS) is Germany's first national supercomputing centre. It operates one of the fastest supercomputers in the world and offers access to supercomputers for universities and research institutions as well as industrial partners. HLRS also holds a leading position worldwide in the research areas of parallel computing, cloud computing and high-performance data analytics and is significantly involved in international and national research projects.
To further evolve our activities in the areas of Engineering and Global System Sciences, utilizing HPC and associated technologies (e.g. high-performance data analytics and artificial intelligence), in national and international activities, especially in two Centres of Excellence on European level, namely EXCELLERAT 2 and HIDALGO 2, we offer a vacancy as
Your tasks: You will be working in an international team of scientists, focusing on the application of HPC and associated technologies in the engineering domain. Specifically, you will take over responsibility of the coordination of the technical execution and orchestration of European projects, identify and analyse the applicability of HPC methodologies to potential use cases and work on prototyping of success stories in close collaboration with the centre’s partners and users. The target of your work will be to support the expansion of the centres expertise and foster its position in the European engineering and/or global system science community. Your role is a management role, where you bring in your technical expertise and guide and monitor the project participants to achieve the goals of the project. Furthermore, you will represent HLRS at internal and external meetings, events and conferences with particular focus on the engineering domain. The position also involves the coordination of the acquisition phase for external funding (e.g. through project proposals) and the alignment of contributions of our international network to these activities.

The contract for this full-time position is restricted in accordance with the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz WissZeitVG for about 4 years. However, dependent on the project situation, HLRS typically advocates for a contract extension. The working conditions as well as the salary are determined by the regulations for public servants, specifically TV-L (Tarifvertrag der Länder).
