The High-Performance Computing Centre Stuttgart (HLRS) was founded as Germany's first federal high-performance computing (HPC) center. It operates one of the fastest supercomputers in the world. It offers various HPC solutions and services for universities, research institutions, and industry. HLRS is a worldwide leader in engineering and global system sciences. Furthermore, HLRS is dedicated to its own research in the fields of high-performance computing, in particular the development of parallel programming models and tools, and is recognised as one of the world’s leading centres in this field. In this context, HLRS is significantly involved in international and national research projects across the abovementioned research areas. 

In the area of application performance analysis we offer a position in an international project as 

HPC Application Performance Analyst

Your Tasks:

As a member of the group “Scalable Programming Models & Tools” you will analyze the performance of user codes, formulate recommendations for performance optimization, develop efficient optimization strategies, and assist users to implement these recommendations.

Requirements for a successful application are:

  • A university degree in a natural science, engineering, mathematics or computer science
  • Good knowledge and experience with the usage of Linux systems
  • Experience with performance analysis of HPC applications
  • Experience with HPC programming models, e.g. MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, etc. 
  • Good knowledge and experience with C, C++, or Fortran 
  • Very good command of English, spoken and written

Ideal candidates additionally have:

  • Very good knowledge in the use of HPC systems
  • Experience with HPC performance analysis tools, e.g. Vampir, Scalasca, Paraver
  • Experience with the parallelisation and optimisation of HPC applications
  •  Experience in collaborative software development with Github/Gitlab, as well as CI/Jenkins, etc.
  • Good command of German, spoken and written

This is a temporary position. Employment is limited in accordance with the legal regulations to the project's duration, which is 31.12.2029. The salary for this position is based on your personal qualifications up to the level of TV-L 13.
