HLRS will continue to coordinate both EuroCC 3 and CASTIEL 3.
EuroCC has led the implementation of 36 National Competence Centers (NCCs) across Europe. Each NCC is conceived as a one-stop stop that connects scientists, industry, and SMEs in the participating country to relevant high-performance computing resources, expertise, and continuing education opportunities.
Operating in parallel to EuroCC, CASTIEL has promoted interaction, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among participants in the EuroCC network, supporting the Europe-wide adoption of best practices in HPC, including the use of HPC in industry.
CASTIEL also led development of the HPC in Europe Portal, a comprehensive, free online platform for scientists and industrial HPC users seeking access to computing resources, technical expertise, or training opportunities.
In addition to connecting NCCs, CASTIEL has supported the development of synergies among other initiatives across the wider European HPC community. This includes building strong interactions among the NCCs, HPC Centers of Excellence, EuroHPC Virtual Training Academy, AI Factories, and European Digital Innovation Hubs.
