Scientific Visualization

Simulation in HLRS's CAVE
July 9: This course is planned on-site.

This course is targeted at researchers with basic knowledge in numerical simulation, who would like to learn how to visualize their simulation results on the desktop but also in Augmented Reality and Virtual Environments. The two-day workshop gives a short overview over scientific visualization in general, followed by a hands-on introduction to 3D desktop visualization with VISTLE  and COVISE. Participants will further learn how to build interactive 3D Models for Virtual Environments and how to set up an Augmented Reality visualization.

On-site course & COVID rules

Although this event is a training course, another important aspect is the scientific exchange between participants, which did not work as well as we hoped in our online courses.

The concept to enable this communication among our participants consists of

  • a social event on the first evening,
  • common coffee and lunch breaks, and
  • if you want and permitted by COVID-19 rules in September, working together in groups of two during the exercises.

For your security, we allow only completely vaccinated, or fully recovered, or participants tested negatively on COVID-19 on all days. In the course room and when not eating/drinking, FFP2 or medical masks are required. See here for details. Of course, these rules also apply to the instructors.
