HLRS at SC26: Riding the HPC Wave

Logo SC26

SC26 – the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analysis – will take place on November 15–20, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Visit HLRS at Booth #4106 to explore how high-performance computing (HPC), simulation, and emerging computing technologies are shaping research and industry. Meet the HLRS team, experience interactive exhibits, and learn about current developments and collaborations in supercomputing, artificial intelligence, and more.

To register, visit the official SC26 website.

Visit the HLRS Booth

You can find HLRS at Booth #4106. While there, you can:

  • Meet the HLRS team and learn about our latest activities in high-performance computing and related fields.
  • Explore simulation in action: Experience an augmented reality (AR) simulation of a Mercedes-Benz automobile and discover the possibilities of immersive simulation of a surf wave in virtual reality.
  • Artificial Intelligence at HLRS: Learn about HammerHAI, a EuroHPC Joint Undertaking AI Factory being coordinated by HLRS, and how our center is helping industry and science navigate the transition to the AI era.
  • Discover the Future of Computing: In the context of HLRS's Future Computing Group, a dedicated corner of our booth features five companies working on emerging technologies for high-performance computing: Q.ANT, Openchip, SpiNNcloud, NextSilicon, and HPE/NVIDIA.
  • Join the European HPC Passport Stamp Collection: Discover European HPC initiatives and collect stamps at 12 participating booths: LRZ, HLRS, JSC, CIDS, CSCS, BSC, EPCC, IT4Innovations, ETP4HPC, LINKS, SiPearl, and IMEC. Once your passport is fully stamped, show it at any participating booth to receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes, including building sets by LEGO. Visit the ETP4HPC booth between 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM on Thursday, November 19, for the prize drawing. The initiative is supported by the Gauss Centre for Supercomputing (GCS).
  • Pick up the latest GCS publications: Stop by our booth for a fresh copy of InSiDE, the Gauss Centre for Supercomputing's magazine, and the HLRS annual report.
  • Join Openchip to see their latest RISC-V silicon, learn about their recent tape-out and explore Openchip’s work with HLRS on scalable, energy-efficient HPC through hardware-software co-design.
  • Meet Q.ANT who provide photonic accelerators that compute natively with light, enabling energy-efficient performance for next-generation AI and HPC applications. At SC26, Q.ANT will officially launch its next processor generation running an AI use case live and showing how photonic computing can be integrated into existing compute infrastructure.
  • NextSilicon will present its current generation of accelerators: Maverick-2 - The only accelerator that uses software-defined hardware to optimize silicon for the application's workload in real time.  Arbel - a RISC-V core CPU.

HLRS Presentations and Sessions

Representatives of HLRS will contribute to the following session during SC26:

Analog Computing for Science: From Emerging Technologies to a Shared Research Agenda

Wednesday, November 18, 2026
5:15 PM–6:45 PM CST
Room W178ab
Format: Birds of a Feather (BoF)
HLRS contributor: Johannes Gebert

Analog computing is re-emerging as an approach to scientific computation, with potential applications extending beyond energy efficiency. These include low-latency physical dynamics, reduced data movement, computation integrated with sensing, and new approaches to simulation, optimization, and artificial intelligence.

This interactive Birds of a Feather session will bring together members of the SC community to identify promising workloads, shared infrastructure needs, research challenges, and opportunities for collaboration. Building on the US Department of Energy's report Basic Research Needs for Analog Computing for Science, participants will help prioritize research directions and shape a shared agenda for analog and hybrid analog-digital computing.

The session is led by Antonino Tumeo (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory), with Johannes Gebert (HLRS, University of Stuttgart) and additional contributors from research institutions and industry.
