Dr.-Ing. Uwe Wössner ist seit 2004 Leiter der Abteilung Visualisierung am HLRS. Er leitet die Koordination aller HLRS-Aktivitäten im Bereich der Virtuellen Realität, einschließlich der Bereitstellung von Visualisierungsdienstleistungen für Institute der Universität Stuttgart und die Industriepartner des HLRS.

Darüber hinaus war Wössner Gastprofessor und Gastdozent an der IFOER, ITE, JASEC, TU-Wien, Österreich und an der HSR, Rapperswil, Schweiz. Er ist außerdem Mitbegründer der VirCinity GmbH und ist Komitee-Mitglied für VR- und 3D-Benutzerschnittstellen-bezogene Konferenzen wie IEEE VR, IEEE Vis, EuroVR, GI VRAR, SC21 gewesen.
